Before starting, make sure you have set up your BagID account, connected your BagID 2 to the app, and that you have a valid subscription.

STEP 1: Check in with your airline

To be able to add a flight and check in your luggage using the BagID app, you must first check in with the airline and ensure you have baggage allowance.

You can typically check in with your airline 23 to 48 hours before departure.

STEP 2: Add flight to the BagID app

  • Open the BagID app and go to 'Flights'
  • Choose 'Add New Flight'
  • Choose the airline you are traveling with
  • Enter the reference number on your ticket
  • Make sure your first and last name match how the name is written on the ticket
  • Choose 'Submit'
  • You will now see your flight under 'Upcoming Flights'

STEP 3: Check in luggage and transfer bag tag

  • Find your flight under 'Upcoming Flights'
  • Press the downwards facing arrow located to the right of the route information
  • Choose 'Baggage' in the bottom right corner
  • Check the 'Accept the terms of service' box and press 'Proceed'
  • Allow the BagID to use your location by pressing 'Allow while using app'
  • Choose 'Check-in' to generate a bag tag
  • You will get a message to activate your electronic bag tag, press the left button on your BagID to activate (the BagID should beep once and start to blink blue)
  • Your tag will now transfer to the BagID
  • Choose 'Close' to go back to the flight overview under 'Upcoming flights' and refresh the page by pulling down
  • You will now see that a bag tag is added and if you press the downward facing arrow you will see the option to 'Show bag tag receipt'

NOTE: When you generate a bag tag it will not become active with the airline until you scan it at the airport. You can create as many bag tags as you like, but you can only scan and send as many as you have baggage allowance for on your ticket.
